Hi, I would like to share my story with you because I want to reach out to other women who are being faced with the same challenges I am. If I can help just one person, that would be a wonderful thing. I am 44 years old and am in surgical induced menopause. I was overweight, had a lot of hot flashes and didn’t feel good at all. I took hormone replacements for one year. After discussing my concerns with my GYN, I decided to stop taking them. I needed to make some changes in my life. I started by changing my diet (watching my calorie intake) cutting back on pasta, potatoes, rice, bread and all soda. I joined a walk challenge and put on a pedometer and started walking with weights. I started doing about 10,000 steps a day and have built myself up to between 20,000-30,000 steps a day. I started drinking a lot of water and taking multiple vitamins. Since last May of 2009, I have lost 70 lbs and I feel great, physically and emotionally. I have more energy than ever, my hot flashes have gone from 20-25 a day, to around 8-10 a day. It has truly put my menopause symptoms at bay and they are much more tolerable. People are constantly saying how much weight I lost and how much happier I seem. They keep telling me that I should share my weight loss story with others. I really want to do that, so I started a Facebook Page called
Steps To Good Health, to be a support system for menopause, weight loss and the road to good health. I have over 95 members so far, and the word is spreading. I was also just in the Philadelphia Inquirer Community Trend Newspaper and am working with Menapause Matters Magazine and Gloucester County Women’s Magazine.

Menapause is a very challenging time in a woman’s life. It can leave you feeling physically and emotionally drained. I want to let other women know that they are not alone. I would love to work with you, tell my story and hopefully make a positive difference in someone’s life.

Thank you so much for your time.
